As expected, Kiel’s city council meeting decided on 17 November 2022 to reintroduce a tram in the capital of Germany’s most northern federal state! All political groups except the right-wing AfD voted in favour. This means that the way to reintroduce the tramway more than 40 years after the closure of the old system in 1985 is wide open. The next steps are expected shortly in a way that planning and finally the construction can proceed quickly.
