Dr. Thomas Schaffer to become new board member for KVB Cologne

Thomas Schaffer, member of the DB Regio Bus management board, will become the new board member of Cologne’s public transport operator, Kölner VerkehrsBetriebe AG. The company’s supervisory board unanimously appointed the 53-year-old to succeed Peter Hofmann in a special meeting on 27 March 2020, whose job at KVB ended on August 31, 2019. The appointment is valid for a period of five years from the beginning of the term. Dr. Schaffer will start his service at KVB between July 1, 2020 and September 1, 2020.

After graduating from high school, Schaffer completed a bank apprenticeship, which he completed as a bank clerk. This was followed by studying economics at the University of Cologne. The degree in economics was also followed by a PhD at the University of Cologne. After working in the United States, Hong Kong, Antwerp and Cologne, the financial specialist started working for Deutsche Bahn AG in Frankfurt/ Main. There he worked in corporate development, for the regional train branch DB Regio AG, the board of DB Netz AG and most recently in the management of DB Regio Bus.
