A first series of all-electric buses regularly operated by TITSA – Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife, S.A. – made their debut last summer on the circular lines 920 and 921 in the centre of Santa Cruz after a lengthy period of testing and adaptation of some installations.
These 11 e-buses, purchased by the Santa Cruz city council, are Iveco E-WAY – Heuliez GX 137L ELEC model and represent a new type for the Santa Cruz urban network as they are slightly longer (10.7 metres) than the traditional 9.5 metres midi buses in use on the downtown lines, following the test run with a similar vehicle on loan during the summer of 2021. The new buses are 2.35 metres wide and offer 17 seats and a total passenger capacity of up to 60.

These new buses have the typical interior of Santa Cruz’s urban vehicles, with Isri seats without upholstery, two interior screens, and a novelty in TITSA’s latest additions, Hanover destination panels instead of Aesys. They have 6 FPT Industries battery packs of together 416 kWh capacity and use the Siemens Elfa III e-motor with max. power of 310 kW.
These are the first pure e-buses operated by TITSA, after a series of 12-metre hybrid diesel-electric buses supplied by the Spanish manufacturer Vectia (CAF group) which stopped production after Solaris being integrated into CAF Group in 2020/21 – see our detailed report HERE.
