Job speed dating in public transport!

Filling jobs in public transport is not always easy. The Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) has been taking an unusual approach for some years now, following the example of other sectors: job speed dating!

“The demand for qualified personnel is still high. Because, if we want to play our part in the success of the public transport, we not only have to expand our range of services, but also continue to grow in terms of personnel,” reports Steffen Grimm, Head of Human Resources at rnv, and adds: “Since its introduction in 2019, job speed dating has become a proven way for rnv to get to know people who are interested in a job at rnv in an uncomplicated atmosphere, and ultimately also to recruit reliable and qualified workers.”

After round trips in Mannheim’s city centre in previous years, a tram is now taking a circular route through Heidelberg for the first time. Passengers can board the tram every 15-20 minutes from the Bismarckplatz stop for new interviews. The rnv “employer brand tram” will run on Saturday, 19 March, between 1 pm and 3 pm as well as 4 pm and 6 pm. Employees of the rnv will be waiting on the train to answer questions, give insights into training and work areas and take a first look at the application documents they have brought with them. Appointments for recruitment tests and interviews are then already made on the spot, provided that the requirements are met.

In order to provide information about job opportunities and to give as many interested people as possible the chance to get to know each other, the rnv’s “employer brand bus” will also be making guest appearances at various locations in the region on 11 and 12 March, and a job day will be held at the Mannheim depot in Möhlstraße on 9 April. Further information on the individual dates is available at http://www.rnv-online.de/job-speed-dating and www.rnv-online.de/fahrdienst.

An interesting initiative that has already led to positive results elsewhere, for example in Hamburg or Zurich, in recruiting staff in times of acute shortage of skilled workers.
