On Friday evening, 8 August 2025, the first Stadler TINA tram arrived in The Hague. Stadler will first test the tram extensively at the Zichtenburg depot before handing it over to the HTM transport company. The test runs will take place on Kraayensteinlaan up to the Volendamlaan turning triangle.

Background

In December 2022, transport operator HTM (The Hague) signed a contract with Stadler for the delivery of 56 TINA trams, with an option for up to 44 additional units. This is Stadler’s first tram order in the Netherlands. The firm order has since been increased to 62 units, which will be numbered 7001 to 7062.

The new three-section, bi-directional low-floor trams, approximately 36.5 metres long and 2.65 metres wide, can accommodate 246 passengers, including 84 seated and 162 standing. Large panoramic windows, high ceilings and spacious multifunctional areas for wheelchairs and prams create an open, comfortable feeling of space. Rotating bogies ensure smooth running, while the energy-efficient drive system, a modern driver assistance system with digital UniBoard cockpit and collision protection increase operational safety and efficiency. The maximum speed is limited to 50 km/h in city traffic.

These new vehicles are initially planned for use on lines 1, 6 and 12 in The Hague’s network. They will gradually replace the older GTL models and focus on greater comfort, accessibility and ecological efficiency.

This order for Stadler TINA trams marks the Swiss manufacturer’s first entry into the Dutch tram market.
