Tube Lines: Northern Line – Picadilly Line – Victoria Line
This is the third volume in a trilogy that explores the diverse architectural styles of the stations on London’s world-famous underground railway. This volume focuses on all the stations on three of the so-called ‘Tube’ lines: the Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. These lines run mostly in deep underground tunnels in central London, whereas the Northern and Piccadilly lines mostly run above ground in the outer areas. The stations on these lines range from classic tunnel airports from the late 19th and early 20th centuries to suburban stations taken over by railway companies in the 1920s and 1930s to modern underground stations. The author, Andrew Phipps from London, presents each station with a short description and several current colour photos.
This book is highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about the world’s oldest underground railway system and for anyone who simply wants to enjoy the high-quality photography and reproduction of the countless colour images.
