Paris: Further extension of future tram T10

Alstom

Although the future tram line T10 has not be commisioned yet, the Greater Paris transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités is preparing the extension of the tram line T10 to connect with future line 15 of the Metro Ile-de-France.

Île-de-France Mobilités has approved the technical file presenting two possible scenarios for the extension of the T10 tramway line to Clamart station (line N from Montparnasse station) and the future station of line 15 of the Ile-de-France metro, one above ground, the other underground. These two routes will be presented to the public in the coming months.

The T10 tramway, which is currently under construction, will link Croix de Berny in Antony (RER B) to Jardin Parisien, via Hôpital Béclère station (T6) serving 13 stops on its 6.8 km long route. Work began at the end of 2017, with the line due to enter service in 2023. Work between the Jardin Parisien and Place du Garde stations is currently suspended due to discussions on the extension.

Following studies of the various possible routes, two technically feasible scenarios, above ground and underground, have been selected, the others not having a guaranteed feasibility. These scenarios will be presented publicly to the inhabitants, elected representatives and stakeholders in the coming months.

In view of the cost of the project, Île-de-France Mobilités will refer the matter to the National Commission for Public Debate (CNDP), which will indicate the terms of the consultation, which could take place in the autumn of this year.

Presentation of the two potential routes:

The surface route starts at Jardin Parisien station, crosses the Meudon forest and ends at Clamart station. It crosses the centre of Clamart on a separate alignment.

The route would be approximately 3.9 km in length with five stops between Jardin Parisien and the terminus at Clamart – Gare station, of which 1.6 km is a separate route, representing 5.5 km of infrastructure to be created. It also includes the 1.6 km section between Jardin Parisien and Place du Garde, initially planned as part of the first phase of the project currently under construction.

In order to avoid the constraints associated with a surface installation in a dense urban environment, a tunnel solution was studied as alternative. The site constraints require that the route be buried immediately downstream of the Jardin Parisien station.

The route is approximately 3.1 km long in tunnel between Jardin Parisien station and the terminus at Clamart – Gare station. It comprises three stations from Jardin Parisien, including the terminus (Clamart – Gare station), and two ancillary structures.
