
The winner of the public tender organised by Prague’s public transport operator Dopravního podniku hl. m. Prahy (DPP) for the purchase of up to 70 battery trolleybuses with a length of 12 metres is the Turkish manufacturer Bozankaya. Bozankaya will supply its SNG T12 model, while the electrical equipment will be sub-supplied by Medcom. The traction batteries on board are sufficient for of up to 15 kilometres ride off the overhead network.
DPP has just signed a framework agreement with the successful bidder that will enable it to purchase up to 70 vehicles of this type over the next five years. In Prague, various existing diesel bus lines are to be converted to battery-powered trolleybus operation, with the associated electrification and equipping of longer sections with overhead contact lines. The contract is worth around 1.1 billion crowns excluding VAT (approx. EUR 43.5 million). In addition to up to 70 battery trolleybuses, this also includes the option of purchasing new and replacing used traction batteries, as well as hardware and software sets for diagnosing vehicle faults, portable chargers and an energy management system for remote monitoring and control of the charging process.
