Uelzen, a mid-sized town in the Lüneburger Heide in Northern Germany with a famous Hundertwasser railway station, has ordered seven electric buses of the new type Citea SLF-122/electric from Dutch manufacturer VDL Bus&Coach, which will operate on the six inner-city bus routes starting from mid-2022. The diesel buses previously used here are to be taken out of service and sold.

Six buses will be needed to serve the six routes, and the seventh will be recharged at the depot. VDL will also supply the charging infrastructure.

Stadtwerke Uelzen GmbH does not own any buses. These are provided by the DB subsidiary Regionalbus Braunschweig (RBB).

Further orders for the new Citea model have been received from Eindhoven (32 e-buses) and Kotka in Finland (25 e-buses).
