With the TB1 (“Tranvibús”), Seville has a new rapid bus connection between Torreblanca, Sevilla Este and the city centre since September 2025. The line, initially operated between Sevilla Este and Nervión, opened on 29 September 2025 and was extended to Prado de San Sebastián in April 2026. On 28 September 2026, the route is ultimately scheduled to be extended to Plaza del Duque in the city centre. In its final configuration, the line will be approximately 12.4 kilometres long and serve 17 stops.

TB1 is designed as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system – known in Spanish as Bus de Tránsito Rápido – and can therefore be regarded more as a BRT standard than as a conventional express bus route. A substantial part of the route has its own right of way or enjoys priority over other traffic. However, this consists predominantly of marked bus lanes, with only a few sections on physically segregated alignments. Extensive priority at traffic signals is also planned, although this has not yet been implemented consistently.

In its final configuration, up to 16 fully electric articulated buses, each 18.13 metres long, are to operate on the TB1, with a five-minute frequency planned during peak periods (today every 10 minutes). In 2023, the municipal transport operator TUSSAM ordered 23 articulated vehicles of the eCitaro G model from Daimler Buses, which have been delivered progressively. The vehicles have four doors and accommodate around 125 passengers, including 45 seated passengers. Five 12-metre eCitaro electric buses from the same manufacturer are also part of TUSSAM’s fleet of approximately 420 buses.

The TB1 is intended to provide a direct connection from Sevilla Este and Torreblanca to the city centre, with through services to major transport hubs such as Santa Justa and Prado de San Sebastián. On its way to Prado and, in future, Plaza del Duque, the route runs partly parallel, in the central area, to existing high-quality public transport services, particularly the Metro and the “Metrocentro” tram.
The integration of the former LE route into the TB1 in April 2026 also resulted in a reorganisation of services. As the two routes operated in parallel over a substantial part of their respective alignments, vehicles and scheduled services could be consolidated. The TB1 consequently assumes a more prominent role as a high-capacity main corridor serving eastern Seville. At the same time, the rest of the TUSSAM network, with its complementary bus routes, remains in place.
