“Transport Company Wartburgmobil (VUW) gkAöR” is the local and regional bus operator in the German mid-size town of Eisenach. Wartburgmobil has headquarters in Eisenach and Bad Salzungen. The company was created by the merger of the “Kommunale Personennah-Verkehrs Gesellschaft Eisenach” (KVG) with the bus operation from Bad Salzungen. The KVG Eisenach, of course, originated from the VEB Kraftverkehr Eisenach.
Wartburgmobil has taken delivery of two “Scania Citywide Suburban LE” of the new design. Both vehicles are of the low-entry design – the interior is low-floor in the area between the doors and barrier-free, in the rear part there are two steps.
Wartburgmobil and Scania attached great importance to the high comfort of the two cars. The seats are as comfortable as those in a coach and are all equipped with seat belts. At each seat there is a reading lamp and nozzle ventilation, which the passenger can adjust individually according to his wishes. Both cars are also fully air-conditioned.
A passenger information screen in the interior shows the real-time position of the bus on its route and which stops follow next. Wartburgmobil CEO Horst Schauerte: “We hope to use this equipment to appeal to many commuters and to convince them – not least for environmental reasons – to switch from car to bus.”
With the two new Scania Citywide Suburban LE, Wartburgmobil now uses a total of six buses from Scania. Four Citywide Suburban LE (including the two new buses), a Scania Citywide and a Scania Citywide LE Hybrid.
