U-BAHN, S-BAHN & TRAM IN PRAHA

Urban Rail in the Czech Capital Prague

Public transport in the Czech capital of Prague has a long history and today presents itself as a modern and customer-orientated operation. For those interested in public transport from the technical and operational point of view, there is a great deal of variety on offer – the metro, the suburban railway and the tram provide a solid basic framework and are constantly being expanded, while buses and, more recently, trolleybuses have been added to the network.

Robert Schwandl’s latest book presents the extensive rail network very well and clearly, with numerous maps supplementing the text in the usual convincing quality. The history of the network is also summarised, along with various historical pictures. However, the majority of the photos illustrate (in colour) all facets of the modern transport network. There is also a funicular railway (currently out of service) and, not to forget, the historic tram operation and the museum.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in Prague’s public transport system, but also as a valuable travelling companion.
