Urban Rail in the Polish Capital Warsaw
Another book in the series detailing the local transport systems of various major European cities, this time focusing on the Polish capital Warsaw. It has had an extremely eventful history, which is also reflected in the design of the public transport network since the 19th century.
In his usual style, Robert Schwandl provides an overview of the historical development, illustrated with various contemporary photographs, and concludes with a more detailed description of the network in its present form. The various modes of rail transport are presented individually, including two modern underground lines, an extensive tram network with more than 20 lines, suburban rail transport on the railway network and the separately operated WKD local railway.
Excellent pictures and, of course, the well-known, clear network maps in various sections make the book recommended for visitors to the city, but also for reading at home.
