On 25 June 2025, an 8 km circular tram line was inaugurated in the newly developed Kalma holiday resort on a peninsula east of the North Korean city of Wonsan. The single-track circular route along the beach promenade and back through Parallestran is primarily intended for tourist traffic, offering visitors to the peninsula a convenient means of transport. Five trams operate on the line, all are four-axle single-ended vehicles built in the country. Three of them are partially open at the sides, offering unobstructed views of the tourist attractions and the ocean.

Kim Jong-un – General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces – personally attended the inauguration of the holiday resort, which is currently hardly accessible to Western visitors.
There is a small trolleybus operating in the city of Wonsan sinc 1988.
