Axis Communications, the technology leader in network cameras, is gradually expanding its product portfolio – the latest addition is the AXIS M3057-PLR Mk II Dome Camera, which for the first time provides a full 180-degree or 360-degree view in all kind of public transportation vehicles. The dome camera made its first major appearance at InnoTrans 2022, the leading international trade fair for transportation technology in Berlin, where Axis presented it as the latest member in a series of network-based video security solutions.
The compact and robust AXIS M3057-PLR Mk II panoramic camera with innovative protected dome is specially designed for use in buses, trams and railway carriages. It complies with transport industry standards, including EN 50155 and EN 45545-2, and a 6 MP sensor provides efficient and complete panoramic coverage. Built-in Axis OptimizedIR technology uses camera intelligence and LED technology to deliver clear images even in darkness, while Axis Lightfinder 2.0 and Axis Forensic WDR ensure natural colours and detailed images even in difficult lighting conditions. An M12 connection makes it insensitive to vibrations. The IP66 and IP67 certified and IK10 rated metal housing is highly resistant to water, corrosion and dust as well as vandalism.
Protection is also provided against unauthorised access by means of integrated cyber security functions: For example, the Axis Edge Vault security component protects the device ID and simplifies the authorisation of products on the network. Axis Zipstream technology also significantly reduces bandwidth and storage requirements.
Everything in view with multi-view streaming
Whether it’s a 360-degree overview, rectified panorama, quad view, corridor view or corner view, multi-view streaming allows all required viewing areas to be streamed simultaneously and transmitted directly from the camera. Selected viewing areas can also be viewed in up to four individual areas and, for example, digitally zoomed or tilted.

The new dome camera not only increases passenger safety in means of transport, but also optimises passenger management: utilisation and seat occupancy of wagons can be measured more effectively, and operational efficiency and passenger comfort can be improved as a result. With a weight of only 760 grams and a small size (149mm diameter, 66mm height), the mini dome camera is particularly light and compact. It is easy to install and blends smoothly and unobtrusively into any environment.
