BUS2BUS 2024: More space, more innovation and a glimpse into the future of the bus industry

BUS2BUS, an innovative business platform for the bus and supplier industry in Germany and Europe that focuses exclusively on the bus industry, has been taking place since 2017. Around 2,000 trade visitors from 25 countries and 100 exhibiting companies from 16 countries took part in BUS2BUS 2022. Preparations for BUS2BUS 2024 show that the trade fair will be even bigger, with more buses and test drive opportunities than ever before. With the combination of a trade fair, an informative Future Forum and presentations & workshops, it will cover the entire spectrum of future technologies and showcase the latest trends and innovations in the bus industry. On 24 and 25 April 2024, national and international exhibitors will present their latest technologies in Berlin and invite visitors to network and discuss the future of the industry.

BUS2BUS 2024 is more than just a trade fair – it is the meeting place for innovation and the future of the German and European bus and supplier industry. The combination of trade fair, stage programme, workshops and networking events makes BUS2BUS the industry’s leading innovation platform. BUS2BUS will continue its impressive growth trajectory in 2024 and present itself on a considerably larger area in hub27, the most modern hall at the exhibition centre. It is organised by Messe Berlin with the support of its partner, the Bundesverband Deutscher Omnibusunternehmen (Federal Association of German Bus and Coach Companies – bdo).

Trade visitors can look forward to a varied programme in hub27 and the associated outdoor area: the trade fair, where exhibitors from Germany and abroad will present their products, services and technical solutions, the Future Forum with an exciting programme of lectures and discussions, the Future Night and the presentation of two awards: the Fresh Travel and the Startup Award. Tickets are available online via the ticket shop.

Trade fair: Market overview, startup area and test drives

The trade fair focuses on modern buses and coaches and provides trade visitors with a comprehensive overview of the market. National and international exhibitors present their innovations and current products. This year’s exhibitors include IVECO Bus, MAN, Daimler Buses, DB Regio, MCV Deutschland, Ebusco, Anadolu Isuzu, OTOKAR, ARTHUR BUS, Lanzhou Guangtong, NOW, KEMPOWER, ioki, Jebsen & Jessen, Mobileye and many more. In the outdoor area, coaches, public transport buses and minibuses can also be experienced and tested “live” in action. Trade visitors can also look forward to test drives with an autonomous people mover. Trade visitors will find inspiration for new business ideas in the Startup Area, where young companies from the mobility industry will present their solutions.

Future Forum: The future of mobility

In the Future Forum, speakers from business, politics and research will shed light on current developments and challenges for the future of the bus industry. The programme includes various panels with a wide range of topics, from alternatively powered buses and autonomous buses to new concepts for mobility hubs. The adaptation of modern public transport to the requirements of modern living and working habits will also be highlighted. Opportunities for bus tourism in the context of individualisation, sustainability and green marketing will be discussed under the heading of “Fresh Travel”, with a particular focus on the expectations of younger generations with regard to sustainable travel offers. The trade audience can look forward to input from well-known representatives of the industry such as Fabian Stenger from Flixbus, Till Oberwörder from Daimler Buses, Zeina Naser from Cities Forum, Romain Erny from Choose Paris Region and many more.

A panel discussion with six participants will take place on a stage. The audience can be seen in the foreground.

The daily bdo Politik Talk on the Future Forum stage also promises exciting discussions and insights. The focus will be on topics such as “AI vs. humans: combating the shortage of skilled workers with autonomous driving?”, the “Data treasure Germany ticket” as a new departure through digitalisation and the “bdo policy talk with the parliamentary bus group of the German Bundestag” on the Germany ticket and the future of public transport. The daily keynote speeches by recognised experts from the mobility industry will be a highlight. Start-ups will not miss out either: BUS2Pitch will give them the opportunity to present themselves to a wide audience of experts and convince a jury of their innovations. They can look forward to exclusive prizes.

BUS2BUS will receive a political visit at its opening on 24 April 2024, when Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing has announced his attendance. Further information and the full Future Forum programme can be found online.

Future Night: Network and industry meeting

BUS2BUS not only stands for professional expertise, but also for valuable networking opportunities. Interested parties will have the opportunity to do so at the Future Night, which will take place on 24 April from 6 p.m. in the Marshall House. This event offers a professional platform for personal discussions and cross-industry dialogue. Tickets for the Future Night cost 80 euros. Trade visitors who already have a BUS2BUS trade visitor ticket can purchase a discounted ticket for 50 euros in the ticket shop.

Another highlight this year is the live presentation of the Fresh Travel Awards. BUS2BUS aims to stimulate discussion about how design, aesthetics and digital solutions can contribute to making buses more attractive and better perceived in public life. Innovative concepts for bus tourism and long-distance transport that take into account the needs of both passengers and the environment are being sought under the keyword “Fresh Travel”. Participants have until 29 February to submit their concepts. A jury of experts will honour the best ideas live at BUS2BUS.

BUS2BUS also offers a digital extension of the trade fair: The BUS2BUS plus online platform enables all interested parties to find out about the exhibitors at the trade fair in advance and then watch the complete stage programme again and catch up on missed stage sessions.
