IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022: Climate-neutral logistics and infrastructure become key topics

With a new concept and a special focus on the relevant industry topics of energy transition, sustainability and climate neutrality, the IAA TRANSPORTATION, as the leading international platform for the transport and logistics industry, is entering the trade show year 2022. Among the central components of the experience concept, which has also been revised, is the IAA Plug and Play Campus. The Campus puts infrastructure topics such as charging networks and 5G connectivity in the spotlight of the trade show action and invites exhibitors to demonstrate their most exciting innovations from the entire infrastructure sector in a hands-on manner on the extensive demonstration areas.
With the Campus directly connected to the newly designed indoor departure terminal, the IAA TRANSPORTATION creates direct points of contact between visitors, who will be test drivers on the road set up there as part of the IAA Test Drives, and exhibitors, who will be presenting their forward-looking solutions on the Plug and Play Campus.

VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel says: “The IAA Plug and Play Campus offers exhibitors the unique opportunity to demonstrate their most exciting and innovative use cases from the infrastructure sector, which is steadily growing in importance for mobility, and to do so live and under conditions that are true to reality, the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else at a trade show. Whether it’s charging infrastructure, payment software, 5G connectivity or the gas station of the future – the potential topics are not only diverse, but above all highly relevant to the future of the transport and logistics industry.”

With myclimate to a climate-neutral trade fair presence

No less relevant with regard to the future of the industry is the topic of climate neutrality. For this reason, this year’s IAA TRANSPORTATION will enable all exhibitors to make a balance sheet-neutral trade fair appearance, including certification. Expert support will be provided by the climate experts from myclimate, the leading provider of CO2 offsetting and climate protection consulting. Participation in the project is voluntary for exhibitors.

Commenting on the partnership with the IAA TRANSPORTATION, the managing director of myclimate Germany, Stefan Baumeister, says: “Large leading international trade fairs such as the IAA TRANSPORTATION also bear great responsibility. We are all the more pleased as a non-profit organization and professional climate protection advisor that the trade fair organizers are moving in the direction of carbon neutrality. Together as partners, we offer all exhibitors to offset their individual CO2e trade fair balance. We make this possible through our high-quality myclimate projects, which are certified to the highest quality standards.”

The IAA TRANSPORTATION is thus following the positive example of the IAA MOBILITY, which had also entered into a corresponding cooperation with myclimate in 2021. VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel commented: “The excellent experiences of the previous year have strengthened our commitment in the field of climate neutrality. For this reason, we are further expanding our partnership with myclimate, so that this year exhibitors at the IAA TRANSPORTATION can also benefit from our partner’s expertise and do their part to protect the climate on a voluntary basis.”
