Alcalá de Henares is known as the birthplace of the Spanish national poet Miguel de Cervantes – a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its historic buildings. 11 bus routes provide local transport services to the 198,000 inhabitants of the city. “Alcalá Bus” is the operator, a company belonging to the Monbús Group, which also operates urban transport services elsewhere in the country.

For just over a year now, the current fleet of 56 vehicles has also included eight buses from Turkish manufacturer Anadolu Isuzu, which delivered its “Citiport” model, a 12-metre vehicle with a passenger capacity of up to 75 standing and 27 seated passengers (+3 folding seats). The Citiport is powered by a 220 kW Cummins 6-cylinder EURO 6 diesel engine.

Vehicles of this type are not yet very common in Spain. In Alcalá, the experience with them is very well in an urban transport environment where they on various routes.

Otherwise, the Alcalá Bus fleet mainly consists of Mercedes-Benz Citaro and Citaro K models as diesel CNG or hydrid buses, as well as some older MAN/Castrosua buses.
