12 years after the opening of the first modern tramway line in Angers, France, two new sections of the line started revenue service today, 8 July 2023, allowing the creation of a new network of three lines. The new sections are Belle-Beille Campus – Molière (4.8 km length) and Centre de Congrès – Monplaisir (3.6 km).

The new network:

A: Avrillé-Ardennes – Angers-Roseraie

B: Belle-Beille Campus – Montplaisir

C: Belle-Beille Campus – Angers-Roseraie

another network scheme is available here: https://www.urbanrail.net/eu/fr/angers/angers.htm

After the existing Line A had already been re-routed via a new inner-city section via Centre de Congrès since January 2021, the new Line B will now take over its previous route section via Ralliement.

20 five-car Citadis 302s with a length of 33 and a passenger capacity of 210, newly delivered by Alstom for 55 million euros, will be used. They complement the existing fleet of 17 Alstom Citadis built in 2011. All tramcars are equipped with APS underground power supply, as some sections of the lines are not equipped with catenary.
