Braunschweiger Verkehrs GmbH (BSVG) recently put sixteen articulated buses of the type “MAN Lion’s City 18 efficient hybrid” (nos. 2301 to 2316) into service in order to make its bus fleet younger and therefore more attractive. Accordingly, older articulated buses were removed from the fleet.

Two of these older buses were now handed over on 18 April 2023 to the public transport company of Braunschweig’s Ukrainian twin city Bila Zerkwa, which had asked for this help. Braunschweig’s Lord Mayor Dr Thorsten Kornblum: “We are pleased to be able to help with these buses. They are urgently needed in Bilka Zerkwa.” If only to be able to evacuate people in the event of Russian attacks on the city.

The BSVG deliberately chose the two buses of its 2009 vintage with the lowest mileage so that they can be used in the twin city for a long time to come. The choice fell on the two Solaris Urbino 18 coaches 0909 and 0910, which are now going on the long journey to their new home with Ukrainian drivers.
