Alstom and Holding Graz – Kommunale Dienstleistungen GmbH for the public transport operator in city officially signed the contract for the delivery of 15 Flexity trams for the Styrian capital on 31 January 2024. The contract for the purchase and maintenance of the trams had already been finalised in May 2023 as the result of a tender and following previous test runs, including a Vienna vehicle. The external design was presented to the press at the same time.
With a boarding height of 215 mm and a stepless interior, the tram is 100% barrier-free. At 33.81 metres, it will be six metres longer than the trams currently in operation in Graz and will have a 30% higher passenger capacity. There will be 60 seats and 140 standing places, with 6 double doors in the single-ended trams for boarding and alighting.
