Daimler Buses with its two bus brands Mercedes-Benz and Setra from the Daimler Truck Group, reports that it has painted the 100,000th bus at its Neu-Ulm plant. The anniversary coach is painted in the colour “royal blue metallic” and goes to the company “Demy Cars” (Demy Schandeler) in Keispelt, Luxembourg.

The paint shop at the Neu-Ulm plant has been in operation since 1998 and today all buses for the European production network of Daimler Truck are painted here.

The paint shop has an area of more than 18,000 square metres, and around 350 employees work here.

Before a bus is painted, the individual parts are first washed and sanded. This is the prerequisite for applying the primer. After the parts have been lightly sanded again, the damp top coat can be applied, with a robot taking over the actual painting work. This guarantees an even application of paint and protects the employees from inhaling harmful paint sprays. After the interior and hollow spaces have been coated, the final assembly of the painted parts takes place.
