The first train was manufactured in China and shipped to Mexico. The remaining 28 trains will be manufactured 65 % in China and 35 % in a factory in Querétaro (north of Mexico City), where more than 150 Mexican technicians have been trained to ensure technology transfer and create jobs in Mexico.

Die 29 neuen Züge wurden im Rahmen einer internationalen Ausschreibung unter der Schirmherrschaft des Büros der Vereinten Nationen für Projektdienste (UNOPS) an CRRC vergeben.

Line 1 of the Metro Mexico is currently being completely rehabilitated. The first section was opened in 1969 and, at 53 years old, is the oldest line in the Mexican capital’s metro network. In addition to the purchase of 29 new trains, new tracks and transmission and communication systems are also being installed. Furthermore, the Metro-Energía project is being carried out, which consists in a new energy supply for lines 1, 2 and 3.
