The electric bus manufacturer Irizar e-mobility based in Aduna in the Basque Country reports a series of incoming orders.
As early as September 2022, orders for 38 vehicles of the 12-metre model “ie tram” in a tramway-like design were reported from its own country: 12 will go to Palma de Mallorca, 4 to Irún (see: https://www.urban-transport-magazine.com/en/vectia-and-now-irizar-more-electric-buses-in-irun/ ) 2 to Tudela and 20 to Pamplona. In May, the large order for 90 “ie bus” for EMT Madrid had already been announced. Also in Greater Madrid metropolitan area, 4 “ie tram” will operate in Fuenlabrada in 2023. Delivery of the first of 68 “ie tram” on order for Zaragoza has started (see: https://www.urban-transport-magazine.com/en/zaragoza-buys-68-irizar-electric-buses/ ). The vehicle which allow for overnight depot charging, will have batteries with a total capacity.
The vehicle which allow for overnight depot charging, will have batteries with a total capacity of 430 kWh on board, those for opportunity charging via pantograph along the routes will have 90 kWh. Traction motors power is 206 kW.
Outside its home market, the manufacturer was able to book further orders: The operator Go-Ahead London will receive 20 “ie tram” 12-metre vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure of two 450 Kw rapid charging stations via pantograph and depot charging stations with 100 kW. The trams will operate on line 358 in the south of the UK capital.
Irizar e-mobility thus aims to expand its presence in the UK. For the first time, the manufacturer is also supplying vehicles to Poland: The MPK transport company in Krakow (Miejskie Przedsiebiorstwo Komunikacyjne) will receive four “ie bus” from Irizar e-mobility, with an option for three more such vehicles.
