Tramways de Flandre, Anvers, Gand, La Cóte – Années 1960

In the Belgian province of Flanders, tramways existed and still exist in three cities and regions, namely in the cities of Antwerp and Ghent and along the North Sea coast between De Panne and Knokke with an operational center in Oostende. In both cities, in addition to the municipal companies, there were also lines of the nationwide national light rail company NMBS/SNCV; the originally independent coastal streetcar SELVOP was only integrated into the light rail network in the 1930s. This well illustrated book shows predominantly own photographs of the author of the 1960s. It is pleasing to see that there are also overview maps for Antwerp and Ghent. Small intermediate chapters additionally present individual aspects, such as the tramway Kortrijk – Moeskron operated by SNCV, the coach factory in Bruges, the trolleybus in Antwerp and special trips for transport enthusiasts on the coast. The black and white illustrations are followed at the end of the book by an appendix of 16 rare color photographs. The short French accompanying texts are understandable even for those who had little knowledge of the language.
